Dead Metaphor. 2019.

Dead Metaphor references the essay “Politics and the English Language” written by George Orwell, in which he describes how words can be used to deliberately divide people. As illustrated by the dictionary-like definition provided by the artwork, so-called dead metaphors often perpetuate mis-understandings and barriers of communication. Providing a tangible yet surreal depiction of the image conjured by meaningless words, this work attempts to make the viewer more aware of their use of language.
